And so it begins...

I've wanted to build a proper layout for the last decade or so, but after a few abortive starts, in HO and N, I've finally got space to build a decent setup. I'm going to be constructing a double, possibly triple decked N scale layout that's set in the Pacific Northwest, and hosts my Southern Pacific collection and my fiction Ponderosa Northern stock. I lived in the PNW for 3 years of my life, and I'd like to capture the feel of that region. It also gives me the chance to temporarily move the layout north into Canada to run my BCOL/CP and CN stock when I feel like doing that. So here are some pics to show what we're dealing with, essentially a single car garage.

Years on - an update

 I haven't posted on here simply because life has been busy. I did finish the room, then ended up in a relationship which involved supporting someone through a horrific court case. After that we got locked down, I entered a new relationship, got engaged, got married and started looking for a new house - all the while using my newly insulated garage as a store room. Such is life! At the present I'm still doing some N scaling things, I'm a member of a modular club - Snakebend, for which I have a third hand module to which I'm giving a little TLC. So where does that leave this blog? Well, my plans are to do the following: Upload photos the work on my Skull Valley module. Upload photos/articles on work I did years ago, but have been lost from the internet. Track some of my incomplete projects as a motivational/historical record. Ultimately track progress on the new layout space in the new property, when that happens. Watch this space!

Room is almost done!

I've been slogging away at this, but no updates here as it hasn't been worth posting pics of the same room every few days. Here's the progress: The walls are finished and painted (as is the ceiling) Skirting has been fitted around the room to stop the breeze! The floor has been painted with another coat of DPM Plastic sheet DPM has been fitted over that Rubber mats have been fitted over that We've started reinstalling the old units What you can't see too well here is that some of the units that were stored outside, under tarps, somehow got wet and rotted. I'll have to replace those. I think I have some left over from the kitchen renovation in my shed - fingers crossed! The remaining insulation will either be used in my workshop (next project) or for railroad mountains (after being carved).
